how to highlight text on magic keyboard

"Most iPad keyboard shortcuts use the Command ⌘ key, like on a Mac. If you're more familiar with a PC keyboard, the Command ⌘ key does the same thing as the Control key on a PC." Learn iPad keyboard shortcuts

If you press and hold the Command ⌘ key, you should be able to drag across text to highlight it. We hope this helps!

this does not work for me. What are some other ways to drag over text and highlight it or copy and paste it
