Cannot log into email on iMac

I cannot access my email on my iMac. I recently changed my password for my ATT/Yahoo Email on my iPhone. I cannot access on my 2012 iMac; Catalina 10.15.7. I was able to log in to email on my iPad with the new password, but have been receiving error messages when I try on desktop. ("Failed to authenticate with Yahoo, please try again later"). Have been messaging with ATT but it appears to be an issue on my end.

They told me to clean out cache and cookies; I did that but no change. Then they wanted me to set up a secure web key; I told them that I never needed that; only a password. (and frankly, I don’t understand much about the email settings - POP or IMAP, etc).
When I told them that I could access the email on my iPhone and iPad they said that the issue was with Apple and my iMac. They said it wasn’t something they could fix.
When researching on the Att/Yahoo forums and Apple forums, I see suggestions that I remove the Yahoo email program and then add it back as a new email. I guess that makes sense, but I would worry that I could lose saved emails (I have many folders with thousands of saved emails). I understand that the email is on Yahoo’s servers, but still worry about it.

They told you, you need a secure web key to access their account now, if you can either do and have access to your email or don't do it and not have access to it.

Doesn't matter if it work on your ipad/phone the settings are different on how to access emails.

You'll have to keep troubleshooting with them.

yahoo mail has always been notoriously bad, which is why they push to use their app instead of apple mail app.

Fail to authenticate Yahoo would be an issue on Yahoo/AT&T side since they can't authenticate you.

What troubleshooting steps did their support have you do?
