Transferring iCloud contacts

Anyone have success transferring your personal contacts from your iPhone to a Mac computer with a different iCloud account?

At my office, we all have personal contacts we want to merge with our work contacts - but we have yet to be able to find a way that works to export a file. I tried the below, which allows you to do everything (select all and export) but need to know how to take that export and move it to the computer vs back into your same contact file, which is what it wants to do when you try to open the "export vcard". Anyone do this before, and if so - please share :-)

One option is to use a computer and log in to https://www.icloud.com/ and then click Contacts and then click the gear-shaped button at lower left and click Select All, then click the gear-shaped button again and click Export vCard. There was an ongoing bug where it was sometimes necessary to go back and click Export vCard two or more times before they would actually download -- not sure if that is still the case but your statement that exporting didn't work for you makes me think so.

Once you have successfully exported you can then log in to https://www.icloud.com/ using the other Apple ID and use the Import vCard option.
