Photos stopped syncing for no apparent reason

I checked my iCloud account to download photos after my iPhone had to be restored. The list only includes photos going up to about a year ago. I recently upgraded my iCloud to get more storage, so I assumed that every photo on my phone would be synced to the Cloud, but this wasn't the case. How can I be sure that every photo on my phone is being synced to the Cloud the way it's supposed to be?

Hi there Slayton,

We'd like to see if we can assist. To clarify a few points, when you say you checked your iCloud account, was that by signing in to the iCloud website?

Do you see the missing photos on your phone, or are they not there either?

Have you deleted any of these older photos? iCloud is a syncing service rather than a backup, so if you've deleted photos from your iPhone, they'd be deleted from iCloud and any other synced devices as well.

The options would depend on the answers to the above, but this link could help as it covers a few possibilities: If you're missing photos or videos in the Photos app - Apple Support
