How can I update my iPhone model 6s to 16

There are different ways to ensure the highest iOS that your device will support is installed on your device. For an iPhone 6S or 6S Plus that's iOS 15.7.8

When updating, your device will update to the highest version currently available that it will support, or it will just say it is up to date (and can't go any higher) and won't install anything. If you want to run a higher system version than your current device will run, that you need to buy a newer device.

An iPhone 6s cannot be updated past iOS 15.7.8. It is too old, too underpowered and lacks the hardware required to run iOS 16. If you need iOS 16, then you need a newer, more modern iPhone. iPhone 6s was released in 2015, 8 years ago. It was a great phone, but has past its prime.

About my Reply:

It's there for reference of no more than updating an iPhone. If any updates are available, they will install, sure enough.

Just seems more helpful to answer specific questions than to send them on a wild goose chase where they will not find the answer and leave them wondering why they are still unable to update to iOS 16.

Well, we all know that it is considered bad form to refer back to the actual question that was asked in a thread....but for what it's worth, the OP asked......

For an iPhone 6s like the OP's, iOS 15 is the end of the line. For an iPhone 6, iOS 12 is the end of the line. (The iPhone 6 is an older model than the iPhone 6s.)

Seems retitling it "Updating an iPhone" would have not have about controversy here. And, that's how I often title that reply of mine (W/O the model).

😞 All responses are boilerplates --one won't know if it solves the issue, until it is makes as such (and is officially-so).

It is not possible to update your iPhone 6s to iOS 16. The latest version available to you is 15.7.8. You would need to upgrade your phone to a newer device.
