File searches are wrong. Completely unrelated files are found.

I am trying to find a file on my external hard drive, which is formatted APFS. The search results display an entirely different file. In the example below, the searched file does indeed exist on the external drive but in a different folder.


This problem occurs frequently on my external drive, though it never happens while searching the main Macintosh HD.

MacBook Air 13″, macOS 11.3

Try rebuilding the Spotlight index for that external disk: Rebuild the Spotlight index on your Mac - Apple Support.
