The Canon PIXMA MP620 printer is 14 years old. Canon no longer supports it on modern macOS. It did have rave reviews when it was released back in 2009. But it's lifespan has reached an end when it comes to modern macOS.
There may be ways to get it to work but the effort is unlikely to be worth it. You can buy a newer inkjet with the same if not better quality for far less than this printer sold for new in 2009 ($469.00 USD).

Hi,
The Canon support sites appear to offer printer drivers for OS X 10.9 Mavericks and earlier only:
https://www.usa.canon.com/support/p/pixma-mp620
You could of course try an older driver with one of the newer Mac operating system versions, but do not expect this to work. Perhaps even test drivers for a few other (similar, but more modern) Canon models. Experimental third-party Gutenprint drivers exist for the MP620, but whether these are at all suitable for the latest macOS versions is unknown to me.
Be careful when downloading drivers. There are several dubious "support" sites on the Internet, often with misleading names. Download from a trustworthy source.
As always, make make sure that you have backup copies of all important files before testing anything. Software conflicts cannot be ruled out.
For scanning only, a (paid) third-party product called VueScan could possibly be of interest:
When you go to add the printer, have you tried checking what drivers may be available in the drop down driver list? Perhaps there is a CUPS or GutenPrint driver available, but it may not be automatically selected. Keep in mind the name of the printer may be in several different formats such as "Canon MP620", or "Canon Pixma MP620", etc., so make sure to look through the list carefully. FYI, CUPS is actually owned by Apple (or at least it was and is a hidden part of macOS).
If a CUPS driver for your printer is not listed, then you can try using the CUPS printer administration which can be accessed through a web browser using the following URL (this URL is only accessing your own Mac)...not sure if it will make any difference though:
localhost:631/admin
The web interface is most likely disabled by default, but can be easily enabled by using the command line within the Terminal app. The error message listed in the browser provides you with the command needed to enable the web interface using the Terminal app. You can just copy & paste the command (without the quotes) into an open window in the Terminal app, or by manually typing the command yourself (make sure the "W" and "I" are uppercase and everything else is lowercase):
cupsctl WebInterface=yes
