The Apple Weather App on my 13 mini (iOS 16.5.1) shows temps for this weekend (Aug 25, 26, 27, 28, 2023) to be 5 degrees cooler than the WeatherChannel App. That is a significant difference. Why?? What to believe?

I’m going to Sierra City, Ca for a weekend. Apple Weather app shows 5 degrees cooler for the next 10 days. What’s up with that?

iPhone 13 mini, iOS 16

Hello,

Since you are on an iOS after iOS15.2 you are seeing a forecast from Apple Weather rather than The Weather Channel. In theory, this would be more precise location accurate as described below. When you are there, if the forecast is inaccurate you can help improve Apple Weather by reporting the actual conditions.

How Dark Sky users can use the Apple Weather app - Apple Support

"Receive hyperlocal weather forecasts

Apple Weather forecasts are hyperlocal, down to 0.001° of latitude and longitude. This resolution is used to generate a forecast for not just your town, but also your block. It can also notify you when precipitation will start, down to the minute.

You can even search and save your favorite locations. In the lower-right corner of the app, tap the location list button to start.

Check the weather on iPhone - Apple Support

"Send a report about the weather

You can report the weather in your location if it doesn’t match what’s shown in the Weather app.

  1. Open Weather, then tap .
  2. Tap , then tap Report an Issue.
  3. Tap the options that best describe the weather conditions in your location.
  4. Tap Submit.

The information you share with Apple isn’t associated with your Apple ID."

I hope this helps.
