iCloud encountered an error connect to server

A few days ago and suddenly, when accessing iCloud on my PC, I get this error:

Connection Error

iCloud encountered an error while trying to connect to the server

I have uninstalled icloud for windows, rebooted then reinstalled.

I have verified that I have all updates.

I have verified that on my iphone14 "share on the web" is enabled.

I have Googled and Googled for answers.

Needless to say, this is getting to be a real pain. Can anybody help? or have any suggestions?

The ONLY thing I can guess is it's related to me upgrading my phone, but have yet to figure out why it's doing this on my PC.

Any help appreciated with TIA!

In Windows network settings find your network adapter, right click and select properties. In there untick ipv6. This allowed me to stop getting errors in the iCloud windows app and in the website too. I saw this suggestion elsewhere but don’t know what the significance of ipv6 is!

for info I have a Windows 11 Dell laptop. In august I have updated Windows via the usual updates bit also had some Dell/Intel updates such as the Killer WiFi app. Not sure if iCloud also updated but suspect one of these has messed something up. All was fine around 10 days ago.

its in your wifi settings. that said, i disabled it and am still having the issue so it didn't work for me. I thought it might be windows 10 so i upgraded to windows 11 last night and still have the issue on both my PCs that are on the same network. very frustrating as i use icloud to download iphone content for editing. any help here would be VERY appreciated.
