My fcpx exports are not showing up on my desktop anymore. When I export it says, DESKTOP - ICLOUD but I cannot find the exported file. Help please. Thanks in advance.

When you export you get a dialog asking where to save the file. Select a location that’s not in the cloud. If you have up system set to store your Desktop and Documents in the cloud don’t put it anywhere in those locations.
In my view the option to store Desktop and Documents in the cloud is purely a way to increase services revenue for storage.
Do not export to anything or any place connected to the cloud. Export it to a local drive.
As a little addition to what Tom said: you are seeing this because you have “Documents and Desktop in iCloud”. It’s very easy to activate this without realizing what you are doing. I am sure that many users have done so and are totally oblivious to it. Do you WANT to store your Desktop and Documents folders in iCloud?
There can be good reasons to do it, but also good reasons not to. Do you need to easily share that data with other macs you have? Do you realize that you probably have way more than 5GB to store (5GB is what you get for free, and just a single video can easily top that, let alone everything else you may have)?
It is a sad thing that a lot of people have no idea of how data is stored and, specifically, what a file system is. The iPhone, despite its huge merits, has ushered in an era of blatant illiteracy in this regard. 🥲
You need to have adequate drive space, and icloud is not the solution for it.
As Tom said, you should keep your media and exports local.
Get yourself a nice external SSD and use it for your media.
Make sure to always have at least 15-20% free space on your system drive.
How do I change my settings to make this happen? When I turn off the cloud fcpx doesn't export to my desktop. Can't I just take the exported cloud file and then copy it to my desktop and then delete it from the cloud?
I only initiated icloud out of desperation to access more hard drive space while editing an important project. I don't like the concept of icloud at all. I have turned it off. I don't own an iphone and probably never will. I know quite a bit more about computers than the average person but because of a traumatic brain injury I endured, I struggle with things from time to time. In the 80's I built my own computer from parts that I acquired one at a time. I was the only dude in my neighbourhood with a tv card in my computer and was already writing code.
Is it possible for hackers to pirate or steal my icloud video data?
