Can't log into my old apple id that's no longer in use on any device or phone number.

Hi, I have an old apple ID that is not linked to any working device or phone number, but it's linked to my main email address.

I need to remove this email address from the old and unused apple ID but I can't log in because it's linked to an old number I don't remember, and it's not used anymore.

I know that there is a recovery account I can use but the problem is that to add a trusted device of contact that I trust I need to log in into that account which is exactly the problem I'm trying to solve.

Is there any way I can unlink my main email address from this apple ID account?

You do not need to log into the account to use account recovery. Go to this document: How to use account recovery when you can’t reset your Apple ID password - Apple Support to regain access to your account. Account recovery might take a few days or longer, depending on the specific account information you can provide to verify your identity.

I read this document couple of times. I followed the steps but it's not helping in my case. At the step where I need to enter the phone number that is associated with my old apple ID, I don't recognize the number and I'm stuck at this point. This is probably the old number my brother has used with my old phone with that apple ID and I can't get the number anymore. What should I do? I just need to remove my main email from this apple ID so I can use the email address with my current apple ID.
