I need the code to increase volume limit on my ipod classic so I can connect auxiliary lead to new speaker & at moment volume is too low. When I go on settings, volume limit, a padlock appears asking for a 4 digit code. I don't have this & I assume it's a factory setting. Apple support can't help, so has anyone had this issue & found a solution?

No, it is not a factory setting.
If you have forgotten the code that you put in, or someone else put in, you may have to resort to restoring the iPod. A Restore is carried out by using iTunes and it will remove all content from your iPod. You will only be able to add back what is in your iTunes Library, so if you have music on it from a different Library, be aware that you will lose it if you choose to Restore the iPod.
