Ipod classic volume not responding

I cannot set the volume on my Ipod Classic. Each time I try: setting, volume limit etc it snaps back to a preset low level. Each time it asks for a code then returns to the main menu without allowing me to change it! Driving me nuts. Any suggestions?

Volume trouble on iPod Classic Hi, I have gone into the settings and tried changing the volume using the volume lock, but whenever I press play to lock the volume, it just reverts back to the lower setting. I want the same loud volume for all songs as I use an external mini speaker to listen on when on holiday. Any help would be much apprecieated...

Try Settings > Reset Settings, or restore your device.
