Name a document in Pages

I used to name a new document in Pages by clicking on the top of the document to name it and specify where to save it. Currently I have to go to recent documents, find my unnamed document and then name it. I would like to name the whilst creating it before I save it to prevent me from finding it in recent documents. Is it a new setting or did I change something without realising it?

When you first create a new document from a template selection, that is the best time to use the Save panel and both name and choose a location for the Pages document. Once you do this, you will also have enabled autosave and what you enter into Pages is saved about every 5 - 10 seconds to the local filesystem, and somewhat longer to iCloud Drive depending on the network connection. This approach also places an entry in the Recents menu with the proper filename.

If you quit Pages before saving a document at least once, all of your content that you entered is gone forever as Pages cleans up its unsaved temporary files.

I never use the title bar as a shortcut to the first paragraph as it lacks the functionality of a fully expanded Save dialog. Apple can (and has) changed application behavior without consulting with end users.
