Can't play music (stream) from websites using Safari iPhone 6s Plus

Recently, due to deprecation of basic security protocols for MS Exchange, was forced to downgrade from Blackberry 9983 to an iPhone 14 Pro. However, as I was so frustrated with the experience, I gradually moved through the family, each time, taking an older phone until I am using the above noted phone. Logic was that if I threw the phone in frustration, it was an old phone.....

In shifting to iPhone, I was aware that for what I need, the phone would be a step down. However, I was certain the phone would play web based music better than the Blackberry as the Apple is almost 3 years newer based on release dates. Sadly this is not the case.

Playing music from websites is almost impossible. And for using apps such as TuneIn is not much better. The phone continually seems to be buffering, pausing, and ultimately just stopping. All apps and web played on the Blackberry. Also, have turned the iPhone on and off numerous times. Latest OS, have deleted all website data, caches, deleted and reinstalled apps such as Tunein. As an aside, webpages load slower on the ipHone than on the Blackberry. Memory is 3/4 empty as I typically do not use apps.

It is the same mobile contract. Oddly enough the music, etc. plays fine on the laptop when the phone is acting as a router/link . . . .

Am I missing something? At this point, I'm beginning to think this is a conspiracy to effectively force users to one, upgrade every cycle, two, to use Apple Music exclusively.....

Troubleshooting issues like this can involve a few different factors. Here are some steps you can take to try and resolve the problem of not being able to Music on your iPhone:

  1. Your device is probably not connected to the internet. There are a few steps you can take to verify the connectivity of your device.
    1. Firstly, you can open a web browser on your device. When you open a web browser, the initial page that loads is typically based on your browsing history or cookies. To further confirm the connection, you can tap on any link on that website. If the link opens and displays the corresponding content, it confirms that your device is indeed connected to the internet.
    2. Another method to check internet connectivity is by opening a specific application that requires an internet connection. WhatsApp is an example of such an application. When you launch WhatsApp, it immediately attempts to establish a connection with its servers to synchronize your chats and display any new messages. If you can see your chat conversations and receive real-time updates, it indicates that your device is connected to the internet.
    3. Connecting to Wi-Fi is the initial step, followed by establishing an internet connection.
    4. However, it's important to note that connecting to Wi-Fi does not automatically guarantee an internet connection. In the event that you are unable to connect to Wi-Fi, the issue may stem from settings on your iPhone or the router/modem.
    5. On the other hand, if you are unable to establish an internet connection despite being connected to Wi-Fi, the problem is likely related to the settings on your router/modem. In such cases, it is advisable to promptly contact your Internet Service Provider (ISP) for assistance.
    6. Check your WiFi Router / Modem for --> Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points ...
    7. For your Internet connection.
    8. Over Cellular: contact your Carrier (Cellular Service Provider). The agency that issued the SIM to you
    9. Over WiFI: Contact your ISP (Internet Service Provider), the agency that provided the Internet Service on your Modem/Router to you
    10. However --> Connect iPhone to the Internet - Apple Support
  2. Turn Airplane Mode On and then Off
  3. Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve temporary software glitches. Turn off your iPhone, wait for a few seconds, and then turn it back on.
    1. Restart the device. That's it.
    2. Still not solved --> Force restart iPhone - Apple Support
  4. If the issue persists, you can try resetting all settings on your iPhone. This will not erase your data but will reset all personalized settings to their default values. Go to Settings > General > Transfer & Reset > Reset > Reset All Settings and confirm the action. Note that you will need to reconfigure your settings afterward. All settings—including network settings, the keyboard dictionary, the Home screen layout, location settings, privacy settings, and Apple Pay cards—are removed or reset to their defaults. No data or media are deleted.
    1. Reset All Settings: Return iPhone settings to their defaults - Apple Support:- Return iPhone settings to their defaults
    2. You can return settings to their defaults without erasing your content.
    3. If you want to save your settings, back up your iPhone before returning them to their defaults. For example, if you’re trying to solve a problem but returning settings to their defaults doesn’t help, you might want to restore your previous settings from a backup.
  5. Make sure you have the latest updates installed.
    1. Update Over-the-Air (OTA) —> Update your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support (IN)
    2. Update using iTunes/Finder —> Update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support (IN)

If none of the above steps resolve the issue, it is recommended to reach out to Apple Support or visit an authorized service center for further assistance. They can provide specific guidance based on your device model and iOS version.

How to contact a Web Publisher or the Host

Contacting a web publisher or the host of a website can be helpful for various reasons, such as reporting issues with the website, seeking permission to use content, or addressing copyright concerns. The process may vary slightly depending on the website, but here are some general steps you can follow:

  1. Check the Website: First, visit the website and look for a "Contact" or "About Us" page. Many websites provide contact information there, including email addresses or contact forms.
  2. Web Hosting Company: If you have an issue related to the website's hosting, such as reporting abuse or copyright infringement, you can try contacting the web hosting company. To find the hosting company, you can use online tools like "whoishostingthis.com" or similar services. Once you identify the hosting company, visit their website and look for contact information or support options.
  3. Be Clear and Polite: Whether you are reaching out via email, contact form, or social media, always be clear, concise, and polite in your communication. Clearly state the reason for contacting them and provide any necessary details to help them understand your request or concern.
  4. Give Time for a Response: Allow some time for the web publisher or hosting company to respond. It may take a few days, depending on their responsiveness.

Remember, always be respectful in your communication, and avoid any hostile or aggressive language, as it is unlikely to yield a positive response.

Hello.

Thank you for your kind reply.

  1. As noted, phone is connected, depending upon location and use, either by wifi or cellular. Connection is not an issue.
  2. Airplane mode is always off.
  3. Have re-started the phone numerous times.
  4. And reset.
  5. Running latest updates 15.7.8 for the model of phone.

Have visited the Geniuses and effectively their only solution was the phone is too old. Yet, when I showed the same webpage running on the BB, but not on the iPhone, the response was, "different OS"....

As an example, I have bookmarked and used the links from this site; https://samsoft.org.uk/iTunes/InternetRadio.asp. These are the old radio stations after Apple, in its wisdom, decided to remove radio from iTunes as a way of "nudging" people to pay for streaming with Apple Music. Note, some sites no longer work but I know the sites that do. And those that work on the computer, or the Blackberry, do not work on the iPhone.

very strange.

Just had a thought: on the BB, it was possible to set buffer time with music. For example, 30 seconds, or as much as 15 minutes, if memory serves. Fully willing to acknowledge it was only 5 minutes, but what ever was the time, it was more than sufficient for areas with spotty cell coverage, higher quality streams, etc.

Today, I have looked, but can not find anywhere that allows me modify buffer times. Actually can not find any settings to deal with buffering. Do such settings exist?
