you can go into Finder > Settings in the "sidebar" tab, and put a checkmark in your Home Folder's name.
and then it will appear in the sidebar of the finder window.
and I went one step further. I used Finder Settings > General and set "New Finder windows show:" to my home folder.
and now my finder opens with my home folder.
Choose Home from the Finder's Go menu.
