MacBook Pro M2 - Screen goes white after login

I have a month-old M2 MacBook Pro. The login screen appears as usual but after entering my password and hitting enter, the screen just goes completely blank and white and it's not possible to do anything.

I have tried safe mode which is the same. I have tried a disk repair and no errors are found. I have also tried reinstalling macOS via the recovery options, which completes successfully but the issue remains.

Does anyone have any further suggestions of what else to try?

Thanks in advance.

Yes but last resort.

I managed to create another account in recovery mode by mounting Macintosh HD - Data then deleting a file called .AppleSetupDone which causes the setup assistance to run again. A new account is fine. I really don't know what the issue is, but it's account-specific.
