How to regain control of text message direction on my iPhone 11

My text messages screen appears to be “Stuck in Horizontal” Position and

am Not able to Fix it….Tried other avenues but, None have helped! What do I need to do??

My question would be why does it do it in the first place mine doesn’t do it every time just at Will. Mine just started doing this about a month ago

Apple has got to know about this by now.

IPhone 13 has same problem (Messenger stuck in horizontal - out of the blue!) No suggested remedies have worked to fix this. Must be some bug Apple needs to fix since so many people are complaining about it.)

Tried unlocking as suggested; Did NOT WORK! Now What Do I Do??

I am having the same issue. It’s not all the time but often enough to be a huge bummer. Yes, turning my phone off then back on fixes it sometimes. Locking my screen to vertical only fixes it too, but, I don’t want my screen locked on vertical.

Yes shutting phone off fixes problem of orientation freeze only until it happens again. Starting to happen constantly. Freezes in both portrait and / or landscape depending where my screen is at time of freezing. Only happens in text message screen. Frustrating.

Try power cycling the iphone. Turn power off, wait 30 seconds and press the power button to turn it back on. The message screen should work normally after the restart.

I tried most of these methods to turn portrait from landscape with no success! So I tried what my old father used to do with his ancient tv- he used to tap it! I tapped the first screen quickly and lightly with my fingers and loo it was solved! For now! By the way it’s a iPhone 14.

Is this only happening in Messages, or other apps as well? If the screen isn't rotating as expected, let's make sure the screen orientation isn't locked. Please check out this link, which explains how to check that, and may help: Change or lock the screen orientation on iPhone

Lock or unlock the screen orientation

You can lock the screen orientation so that it doesn’t change when you rotate iPhone.

Open Control Center, then tap .

When the screen orientation is locked,  appears in the status bar (on supported models).
