Apple ID verification Code

After receiving several unsolicited Apple ID verification Codes, and reading the comments on this platform, I have following questions:

1) the unsolicited codes were received without asking allowance, informing the location of the login attempt, however they were received on the same channel as the "normal" Apple verification codes that I have generated myself. How is this possible?

2) Does receiving unsolicited Apple ID verification Codes mean that someone else already has my AppleID+password? I have not shared this with anyone, so how is this possible?
