Can I leave my MacBook working with the closed lid?

i've used amphetamine app to leave my mac (mbp 14' 2021) working with closed lid, but randomly it stopped working (turned off display with password needed after closing the lid - default behavior). i've tried to update the system (to 13.5.1), then i've tried to update the amphetamine (5.2.2 -> 5.3) and it still didn't work. i've tried other alternatives, but it still didn't work. then after reinstalls with no results i've decided to ditch it all and use built in "caffeinate" terminal command.

but to my surprise even "sudo caffeinate -dimsu" didn't work - what could've done this?

edit - tried to reinstall macos through the recovery utility, but no luck either. i hope i can fix this without nuking the os, because full reconfiguring will take a lot of time

edit 2 - fully reinstalled macos, the issue is still persising, used "pmset -g" to check sleep states, everything is "working" but in fact it's not (m1 amphetamine patch is installed, "caffeinate" has the same outputs and the same "working" results)

i found this discussion https://apple.stackexchange.com/questions/219885/use-caffeinate-to-prevent-sleep-on-lid-close-on-battery, but i don't want to use this, and rather fix caffeinate/amphetamine
