iPlayer wont play anything Apple TV

I can open iplayer on my apple TV as usual, it logs me in fine, lets me browse and select a programme, but when I hit the play button I just get a black screen with a small red icon on the scrubbing bar. This has been going on for days.

I have tried EVERYTHING… I have uninstalled then reinstalled, I have restarted the box, I have signed in and signed out, I have cleared the cache … my wifi connection is fine and all softwares are apparently up to date, I don’t know what else I can do. All other apps on my TV work perfectly fine with no issues.

I have always used BBC iPlayer the most, so I’m getting desperate. My next option was having to consider buying a new TV box but I can’t afford to do that.
