Trying to email a photo so receiver gets the phot and not a pdf

I tried to email a photo from my Mac, and the recipient got a pdf. I want the receiver to get the photo and not a pdf. How can I do this?

MacBook Air 13″, macOS 13.5

Select the photo in photos

Use the share menu item (the box with the arrow)

Select email for sharing

Your photo will now be attached to an email.

Thanks for your help. I sent the photo, but the receiver got a reduced/compressed version.

After several tries, I emailed the photo to me with good results. I have to assume that his

computer is set up to reduce the size of incoming photos.
