gray trash in "Image Capture" - can't delete photos on my iPhone (5s) from Mac Monterey

until now I've never backed up my iPhone photos to iCloud - I look at my photos in "Image Capture" and either back them up on my Mac or throw them away from "Image Capture". But recently I bought a new iPhone (which I don't use yet) and they made the data transfer with iCloud. As a result, I couldn't throw away photos from "Image Capture" because the trash was grayed out. Solution: iPhone Setting / iCloud / photos was set to "on" and I set it to "off". Now the trash in "Image Capture" is black again.
