Safari not connecting to Google with VPN (US)

I've been using ExpressVPN for a few years now, and a problem has come up recently with Safari and Google in the US.


I'm on a Mac desktop, running Ventura 13.3.1(a). Safari is my primary browser and Google is my main search engine; it has always worked well for me, even when I started using a VPN. Recently, however, Google would not load. Neither the page or the search bar (which is set to google) will work when the VPN is on and I give a US location.


If I use Chrome with the VPN, Google works fine. If I change my VPN location to another country, Google on Safari works fine. If I am on Safari, VPN in the US, Bing and Yahoo both work fine. It is just when my VPN uses a US location, and I'm on Safari, Google will not work.


Any thoughts on how to address this?

I've been using it for years as well. I've had the odd glitch along the way but recently things have been a bigger challenge. A bit frustrated to be honest.


I'm having the same issues you describe, but have found more. I'm running ExpressVPN. I have fibre and should be getting a full gigabyte of speed, but... When I turn Express on my speeds dramatically drop to around 430 megabyte, 14 latency, and 74 upload. And when I turn Express off I get 1.2 gigabyte speed, 5 latency, and 100 megabyte upload.


Other problems I have when it's on are: various webpages won't' load, Google search won't load up, etc. I'm running off an iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, Late 2015), Monterey system v 12.7.1. I've also done various speed tests o Opera, Firefox, Chrome and DuckDuckGo. I get various readings, but technically, no matter what search engine I use, when ExpressVPN is on I loose have or more of my 1 gigabyte speed.


I'm stuck.
