Adding music to slideshow or video memories on iPad pro

I want to create slideshows with music on my iPad Pro. I own songs I bought on Apple Music. When I try to add my purchased music, there is no drop down screen to iTunes, nor to my music library where my songs reside. It offers canned music or suggestions to get you to subscribe to Apple Music. I am so frustrated that I am unable to add my own music. Can anyone show me step by step instructions how to fix this. My iPad pro is running the most iOS update and I am signed into iTunes with the same ID as my iPad. Thank you for any assistance.
