AirPods in the washer

So 20 minutes after my clothes being in the washer I realized my AirPods were in my jeans pocket the case was pretty wet and the AirPods themselves weren’t super bad so i played some music and they worked great its just the squeal really loud every time i touch them and i have no clue what to do so i put them in a rice bag. Any suggestions?

Hello Bmoney12,

Thanks for asking the Apple Support Communities about issues with your AirPods.

Since they got wet, even if you could dry them out, which you likely can't, the corrosion is already starting. Since it's all three, the case, and both R and L sides, it might be cheaper to buy a new set, but check the individual costs for the case as one, and the R AirPods device as the other, and lastly the L AirPods device, here: AirPods Repair & Service - Apple Support

"You can replace a single AirPod (left or right AirPod) or a Charging Case for a fee. Use our “Get an Estimate” tool to review potential costs if you get service directly from Apple. If you go to another service provider, they can set their own fees, so ask them for an estimate. We'll inspect your product when we receive it. If additional damage is found, you could pay an additional fee."

Check the cost for a new set here, and compare: AirPods - Apple

Thanks.
