How can I connect my canon PIXMA to my Mac book Pro?

Having trouble connecting my MacBook Pro to my canon, PIXMA

MacBook Pro 15″, macOS 12.6

If you have an existing printer installation for this printer, remove it.


If you haven't already, download and install/reinstall the latest software package from the Canon website for that printer. Canon has many PIXMA printers, be sure you get the right model's package.


Then Add a printer to your printer list so you can use it on Mac - Apple Support. Choose OS 12

I can assure you that most Canon Pixma printers work fine with a Mac. I have a Pixma 7520 that's worked well for many years. (But it would have helped if you'd provided the printer model number). There are, however, some Pixma printers that are not compatible with MacOS.


I'd make the following comments:


  • Make sure your MacOS is up to date.
  • On your printer, make sure it's connected to WiFi.
  • On your Mac, if the printer is in your list of installed printers, delete it. Then try adding it back.
