FaceID IR LED does not turn off

Hello Apple friends! 👋

I've noticed something interesting with my iPhone, and I wanted to get your thoughts on it. Even after I disable Face ID in my settings, I can still see the infrared (IR) diode through the camera of another phone. 📱 I've attached some photos for reference.

I was wondering why the IR diode doesn't turn off completely when Face ID is disabled. Is there a way to disable it, or could this potentially be addressed in a future system update? Not everyone wants that extra light shining in their eyes. 😶

It strains your eyes, batteries, diode, and a piece of code that doesn't quite work 😉

Any insights or advice on this would be greatly appreciated! 🙏
