WiFi connected but no internet, modem already replaced, other devices (4) working fine.

All of a sudden MacBook gets no internet connection anymore. I didn’t make any changes. Rang the isp and got a new modem, same issue. Tv, phones and tablet work just fine with both modems. Factory reset of MacBook is not possible because it cannot logout Apple ID. Date and time also wrong (showing the date I got the MacBook). WhatsApp also not able to connect.

You need to have your system time correct within five minutes, or you can't make a secure connection to anything.

Being WiFi is not working, you can try Ethernet. This is the Adapter to use: The Belkin USB-C to Gigabit Ethernet Adapter - Apple

Troubleshooting Mac Wi-Fi:

A few thoughts to try...

I. Clear the Temporary Internet Files:

II. Restart your Router:

  1. Power: off the router
  2. Wait: 30 seconds
  3. Power: It back on

III. Boot in Safe Mode:

In Safe ModeLogin Items do not run at login, certain preferences are set aside, and damaged system files are then reset. So, once booted in to Safe Mode, wait 30 seconds, and then boot up normally, attempting another update install. For instructions, go here: How to Use safe Mode on your Mac - Apple Support

IV. Try a New Admin User:

What happens when you create a new administrator user, and log into it? Do you still get this error? If not, then it is likely an error with the current user. If so, then it is likely an error with your Mac.

Thanks a lot for your suggestions. I had already made a new user, forgot to mentioning that, didn’t make a difference either.

Tried safe mode and clear cache now, still the same problem.

modem was already restarted and also switched off several times and eventually even replaced - same issue.

Will give Ethernet a try once I can get this adapter somewhere and will also try to connect to a different network as soon as I get the chance but so far nothing seems to help - I don’t understand why none have f my other devices have any issues and how the MacBook lost the connection seemingly from one second to another without any changes being made :(

You are welcome.

About Network Connectivity:

Just because you have a network connection, that does not mean you are connected to the Internet. You may be using internal LAN services, such as logging into your router, or sharing file.
