Sidecar Separate Display Full-Screen takes over main screen w/ black screen

When I am using a projector for presentations, I want to use a Sidecar iPAD as a Separate Screen to display a Full-Screen app like Google Photos Slideshow. When I enter Full-Screen, main main monitor goes black as an extension of the Sidecar Full-Screen. What gives?

Thank you. After speaking with Apple Tech Support, the solution is to go to

Settings: Desktop & Dock: Mission Control and check "Displays have separate space". Ensure this is checked ON.

Thanks!

Hi there Sustained Note,

You may need to adjust your Sidecar display settings to be sure it's set up as an additional display rather than a mirror of your Mac. Learn how below:

Change Sidecar options
After you set up your iPad as a second display for your Mac, you can change the options in Displays settings.
1. On your Mac, choose Apple menu  > System Settings, then click Displays  in the sidebar. (You may need to scroll down.)
2. Select the name of your iPad on the right, then do one of the following:
* Click the “Use as” pop-up menu, then choose whether you want to use your iPad as the main display or to mirror or extend your display.

You'll find those details here: Use your iPad as a second display for your Mac - Apple Support

Also, you'll want to review the information in this support article to be sure both your Mac and iPad are updated and meet all the system requirements for using Sidecar without issues: Use an iPad as a second display for a Mac - Apple Support

Take care.

Hello Sustained Note,

Thanks for that clarification and we apologize for any confusion. Using your iPad via Sidecar with your Mac should work as expected, whether using Extended Display or Mirrored Display. Based on all the troubleshooting done thus far, and since it is still not working, further assistance may be needed. We want to make sure you reach the right team for help with your Mac & iPad, so we recommend that you contact Apple Support directly. Thank you. I have the IPAD set up as an "Extended Display" for my Macbook Pro M1 laptop. If I had Mirrored, then it would show exactly what's on my Laptop. I need the iPAD as an extended display, so I can run a projector off of it, while still working on my laptop. When I press "Full Screen Mode/Slideshow" on Photos or an audio visualization program, the screen on my Laptop "Main Display" goes black.
