some fonts used in Apple notes on Mac don’t show up in notes on iOS

I use Apple notes a lot, and I like to use different fonts and colors for titles to help them stand out differently to me. I’m going to the “show fonts” menu on Mac and using the fonts built in with Mac/haven’t downloaded any custom fonts. But some fonts are switching to default/dont seem to be built in to iOS, but some are. Could anyone tell me either how to make those specific fonts show up in iOS or at least help me figure out which apps are and aren’t compatible — I haven’t been able to find a pattern or list of fonts iOS supports.

im running iOS 16.6 and MacOS 13.5.1, for reference,

fonts showing up in Apple notes on Mac and iPhone: Heiti SC, futura, markerfelt, American typewriter

fonts used on MacOS defaulting to system/not displaying on iPhone Apple notes: charmonman, hanzipen SC

thanks!

Hi heypip,

It is expected behavior for the font or typeface in your Notes app to vary per device. The Notes app on macOS has the ability to select from a wide range of installed fonts whereas on the iPhone the formatting options don't have this ability. A font needs to be installed in order for the device to recognize it.

For more information on formatting in the Notes app see:

Take care
