Using Logic Pro X, trying to merge two midi tracks into one.

I'm thinking this should be a simple task but after watching countless videos and reading the manual I've yet to find the answer.

I'm trying to merge two midi tracks into one, creating a new track, yet leaving the original tracks intact.

Then if possible to delete any duplicate notes in that new track.

When sequencing a piano part, I usually record one staff at a time (one for the treble clef, another for the bass clef). I also record vocal parts Soprano, Alto, Tenor, Bass on separate tracks, then create a track that combines all (most duplicate notes occur here).

I've used sequencer Metro in the past, which does these tasks easily, but am wanting to move to Logic.

Thanks for your help!

There are many ways to merge audio and midi files.

If you just like to merge midi regions into a new midi region you can use the glue tool or from the menu Edit > Bounce And Join or from the context menu (CTRL+Click or rightclick). It works for both, midi and audio. But when using this command you have to copy the regions before merging.

Two options without copying the source regions are:

1. Bounce In Place. From the menu File > Bounce > ... or the context menu. Several options here. The result will be an audio file.

2. Bounce. With the Bounce button in the master track or via the menu File > Bounce > Project or Section. The result will be an audio file.

However, I'm not wanting to merge 'regions', but 'tracks', and I need them to stay midi.

If you click on the Track Header, the entire content of a track is selected, no matter how many regions are located on a track, as long as no circle is activated. However, duplicate the tracks (2 clicks) before joining / merging the midi tracks.
