getting spammed like crazy by Mail app: what's happening??

23 spam e-mails in a few hours time, while with the gmail app 0 gets through. What is Apple doing to prevent spam reaching my Mail app??

Blocking senders does NOTHING, it even does not delete the message after blocking the sender. I have to manually ONE BY ONE block 23 and then ONE BY ONE delete 23 messages. How stupid is this?

I have an iPhone 14 Pro Max and each year I upgrade to a new device. And now with I have to use gmail app instead of iPhone Mail app? I think it is ridiculous. I expect more from my premium device and brand.
