AirPods keep giving me item was seen but location not updating.

I lost my AirPods and I’m pretty sure they’re either lost in my car or somewhere inside the house but they’re in the case. I put lost mode on to try to find it as they currently say they’re in the middle of the highway which I don’t think they are it’s a possibility but unless they flew out while coming home then it’s unlikely. As you can see they’re in lost mode but I keep getting notifications that they were seen yet the location that is provided was updated 12 hrs ago. Is this just false information and it just keeps reminding me of the last known location or are they actually close to me and the map just isn’t updating?
