13.5.1 (22G90) Ventura—Installed it; fonts were wiped

I installed the recommended Ventura update on a MacBook Pro 13-inch, M1, 2020.

Went to use Quark and some fonts I'd purchased and uploaded had been deleted. They're still in Font Book and in Fonts. Can't map them.

Give this a try: boot into Safe Mode according to How to use safe mode on your Mac and test to see if the problem persists. Reboot normally and test again.

NOTE 1: Safe Mode boot can take up to 3 - 5 minutes as it's doing the following;

• Verifies your startup disk and attempts to repair directory issues, if needed

• Loads only required kernel extensions (prevents 3rd party kernel/extensions from loading)

• Prevents Startup Items and Login Items from opening automatically

• Disables user-installed fonts

• Deletes font caches, kernel cache, and other system cache files

NOTE 2: if you have a wireless keyboard with rechargeable batteries connect it with its charging cable before booting into Safe Mode. This makes it act as a wired keyboard as will insure a successful boot into Safe Mode.

Solution from QuarkXpress:

This worked.

1. Quit QuarkXPress (if opened).

2. Click on the Applications folder

3 Navigate to QuarkXPress 2023. Hold the Ctrl key and click on it, from the context menu that opens select the "Show Package Content" option.

4. Go to Contents >> Sharedsupport>> Tools

5. Click on QuarkCacheCleaner.

6. Select the checkbox to delete preferences as well.

Now open QXP and then check if the issue persists or not.
