In the dock, your Mac would have the "Photos" icon for the Photos app that is installed, to help with Photos.

You asked about "moving" photos into albums. You can add photos to albums, but you cannot move photos to albums, as albums cannot store your photos.

Albums are an index to photos in your library. The photos will always remain in the Library albums like "Recents", "Imports", the "Media" albums and the albums are referencing the items in the library. This way each video and photo is only stored once, but can be used in many albums, without needing extra storage.

File -> New Album

Drag images to the new album you've created.
