Why am I being charged for a gift card I received for purchasing a computer?

Apple bills the price of the gift card separately and reduces the billing for the computer by the same amount. The result is a free gift card.


For example, if you buy a $2000 computer, Apple bills $1850 for the computer, $150 for the gift card.

Total of the billings is $2000 but you receive a $2000 computer and a $150 gift card.
