Netflix Streaming Issue

I am in a similar situation. I just bought a new 27" iMac and migrated my account from my Macbook Pro and have searched high and low for any "Playready" or "mspr.hds" files and have found nothing.

I even tried setting up a new account on my Mac and reloaded Silverlight, and still nothing works. Netflix is being no help at all to resolve the issue.

I just went to the finder > searched for "silverlight", trashed the files, restarted and then went to netflix and it prompted me to reinstall silverlight. all is working fine. Thanks Bill, Rex and PJD171!

Good to hear this worked for you. I've done this several times and still no Netflix streaming.

I've had a nightmare and no one could solve it. Netflix friendly but little help. Microsoft useless.

As noted by others, the "new user" may not be necessary. It wasn't for me.

But no one else had identified ALL of the files and folders that needed to be removed.

I gave up a month ago on fixing this issue. But since then, I've upgraded to Lion. So I just tried to strem Netflix again on my iMac, and now it works. Go figure?

I JUST fixed it. I did the exact steps Bill suggested many times and it never worked. This time I created the new user but I made sure to give it admin privileges. It worked. Now, I also reinstalled my OS, for another problem, but that alone didn't fix it. I still had the same issues with Netflix. So I revisited Bill's steps, gave admin privileges to the new user and viola, it worked.

I did all of the steps..found silverlight and the other one mentioned.. deleted, trashed, restarted etc....the new user account net flix works fine....returned to original user account and still have the same error code.

Any other ideas???

I tried deinstalling and reinstalling like you said but where do I create a new user ID? I am so lost, spent 2 hrs doing it.

Create new user in Mac OSX. That's the key. Make sure the new user has all the same privileges as the main account in OSX.

I've just fixed my N8156-6022 issue from a Terminal window with the following command:

sudo rm -fr /Library/Application\ Support/Microsoft/PlayReady

You'll need to enter your password at the prompt.

It seems to me the culprit is the hidden .Cache directory under PlayReady.

Went through all the same as you guys. Did a migration and all the problems started. Bet you all have Flip4Mac installed as well. Blow it and Silverlight away. Go download Flip4Mac again and re-install. Then I went straight to Safari and Netflix worked like a charm. During Flip4Mac install you'll see Silverlight is part of that program.

I have had this issue and after calling netflix customer service which is lacking on this problem, i google for help. I have placed my hard drive in another macbook. I have not been able to load silverlight/netflix with your suggestions. I did find my PlayReady file in my partitioned drive for windows. I moved it to the correct file, library/appsupport/microsoft. this did not help. After I cleaned the entire Silverlight off both hard drives,emptied the trash, restarted, I loaded netflix and found that instead of it asking to load sliverlight it provided the same error code. Any thoughts here?
