The markup tool does not show up in my iPad Notes app. Using iPad OS 16.6 on iPad mini 6th generation

Make sure the note you are in is under the iCloud or On My iPad folders.

Tap the little square icon at the top left, the on Folders, and verify one of the aforementioned folders is selected.

3rd party email providers that support storing notes, may not support the extra functions such as the Markup feature.

Ok, the middle icon gives me the choice of the markup tool. Thanks, what happened to it appearing on the opening page? Is this a new change?

What middle icon?

Whether the pencil icon appears depends on where the current Note is being saved.

It’s a always been that way.

Got it fixed, seems I was in another folder and had to move notes and send everything over to the cloud. Took a bit of looking to figure out what was wrong and fix it but it got done. Thanks for the ideas and help.

When I first open Motes I get the first picture, then after I close that note and open New Note and tap the icon next to the icon I get this picture

I was wondering why when I open Notes I don’t get this

Is there something I can do to get the bottom picture to open when I open Notes or is the second picture where I tap the icon to the right of thr

e trash can the new way to open markup?
