imac Not Accepting Apple ID Password

when i sign in with apple ID and password, it simply reboots to sign in page without signing in

My iMac won't accept my Apple ID password I bought a MAC home computer from around 2015. I can’t log in to my Mac after getting it back from Apple! My macbook went in for repairs and today when an employees was showing me around my computer compared to the new ones he went past me signing in with my Apple ID and put in some Apple Store information instead. Now when I open my computer the user name is “a” and wants a password to get in. It won’t let me sign out or do anything before inputting this password that I don’t know. How do I get in so I can input my Apple ID?

If you're at the normal login screen, you enter your login password not your Apple ID.
