Then you are going to have to get a new one if you want to use an Apple Pencil with your iPad. If it is lost or stolen, there is nothing you can do to retrieve it, other than going back to where it was lost and seeing if it is still there. It will NOT show up in Find My as it is not associated with your AppleID. Therefore if it is lost or stolen, it is gone.

Sorry, I know this probably isn’t the news you wanted to hear, but unfortunately it is how it is.

Unless you have an Apple Pencil Pro - compatible with the 2024 iPads Air M2 and Pro M4 - an Apple Pencil cannot be located using Apple's Find My service.

Unless your Apple Pencil has unique external markings, such as engraving, the are no visible external means with which to identify a Pencil or its ownership.

If you still have the original box within which your Pencil was supplied, the Pencil's serial number is printed on a label affixed to the box. This information might be used to compare with the serial number as reported by an iPad to which the Pencil is paired - and this used to demonstrate a Pencil's ownership:

Assuming the pencil you found is a 2nd gen pencil, USB-C, or (which I doubt applies to your situation) the Pencil Pro you can find the serial number on the actual pencil inside the tip area or on the 1st gen pencil on the lightening connector.

But if it’s not pairing to your iPad and it’s the iPad it was originally used with it’s likely not yours.
