How do I track a lost Apple Pencil attached to an iPad?

Unless you have an Apple Pencil Pro, there are no technical means by which a mislaid Apple Pencil can be located. Even if still charged, a motionless Pencil will shut-off its Bluetooth connection to save power.
With the sole exception of Apple Pencil Pro that can be detected over a short range, the only method to locate a lost Pencil is to physically look for it...
