Sleep schedule alarm is silent if AirPods were connected and died

I have found that my phone does not make any noise if an alarm is set through the Health > Sleep > Sleep Schedule alarm system if AirPods are playing audio or if AirPods were playing audio but ran out of batter overnight.

I sleep with my AirPods Pro 2 in every night for noise canceling and a sleep podcast. This causes alarms set through the Sleep Schedule to not sound. The phone will have the alarm screen on, but neither the phone or AirPods make any noise. If the AirPods ran out of battery overnight, the phone will not make any noise for an alarm. But even if the AirPods do still have battery and are playing music or a podcast, there is still no noise for an alarm through the phone speaker or the AirPods. Alarms set through the Clock app do not have this issue.

Apple AirPods typically disconnect from the iPhone or any other device when their battery drains completely. When the AirPods' battery level gets critically low, they will emit a low battery warning sound, and then they will power off. When this happens, they will disconnect from the paired iPhone or other devices.

However in certain conditions (Battery Levels), the Apple AirPods will remain connected to your iPhone even if the AirPods' battery levels drop significantly. This is because the AirPods are constantly trying to maintain a Bluetooth connection with your iPhone. When the AirPods' battery dies, they will no longer be able to play audio or respond to touch controls, but they will still be connected to your iPhone.

When the AirPods' battery drains completely, they typically disconnect from the paired iPhone or other devices. While the AirPods are designed to maintain a Bluetooth connection when they are in use and have sufficient battery power, they will disconnect once their battery is depleted. This is a common behavior for Bluetooth devices to conserve energy and prevent unnecessary attempts to connect when they cannot function.
