you shut down your computer because of a problem after updating to ventura 13.5.1 (22G90)

I have a Macbook Pro 16-inch, 2019 Intel model after updating the OS to Ventura 13.5.1 (22G90) I am getting issue with my macbook pro like when I turn on my macbook it gives me meesage after login "You shut down your computer because of a problem."

even I see this meesage if I reboot my macbook.

Give this a try: boot into Safe Mode according to How to use safe mode on your Mac and test to see if the problem persists. Reboot normally and test again.


NOTE 1: Safe Mode boot can take up to 3 - 5 minutes as it's doing the following; 

• Verifies your startup disk and attempts to repair directory issues, if needed

• Loads only required kernel extensions (prevents 3rd party kernel/extensions from loading)

• Prevents Startup Items and Login Items from opening automatically

• Disables user-installed fonts 

• Deletes font caches, kernel cache, and other system cache files


NOTE 2: if you have a wireless keyboard with rechargeable batteries connect it with its charging cable before booting into Safe Mode. This makes it act as a wired keyboard as will insure a successful boot into Safe Mode.


Have you installed and run any "cleaning", "optimizing", "speed-up", anti-virus or VPN apps on your Mac?

You don't need any of those types of app. They do nothing but reduce your bank account and interfere with system and app performance.


Unless you're using a true VPN tunnel, such as between you and your employer's, school's or bank's servers, they provide false security from a privacy standpoint and can interfere with system performance.  Read these two articles: Public VPN's are anything but private and Former Malware Distributor Kape Technologies Now Owns ExpressVPN, CyberGhost, Private Internet Access, Zenmate, and a Collection of VPN “Review” Websites


You can check to see if you've removed all of the supporting files by downloading and running the shareware app Find Any File to search for any files with the application's or the developer's name in the file name.  For Kaspersky software you'd do the following search(es): 


1 - Name contains kaspersky

2 - Name contains (name of app if it doesn't contain Kaspersky).


Any files that are found can be dragged from the search results window to the Desktop or Trash bin in the Dock for deletion.


FAF can search areas that Spotlight can't like invisible folders, system folders and packages.

Dear Toad,


Thanks for helping me to fix my macbookpro issue, removing all the files related to "Kaspersky" does not fix my issue. But I found a new app "Find any file".


any way the issue has been fixed I reboot the macbook and press the command + option + P + R keys to clear the NVRAM. Now I did not see any messages after I login to my macbook pro.
