iOS 16.6 iPhone 8 can't change calendar alert sound

iPhone 8 iOS 16.6 -- I cannot change the calendar alert sound from what I'm pretty sure is the "Input" sound.

iPhone 12, iOS 16

Head to:

Settings > Sounds & Haptics > Calendar Alerts

Select your favorite from the picker!

Already did that. Doesn’t change the sound for Calendar Alerts. I can change the sound for the other items in the “SOUNDS” list - Ringtone, Text tone, etc. - but, no matter which sound I select for “Calendar Alerts”, the sound for Calendar Alerts remains the “Input” sound.

Any other suggestions?
