it was charging last night before I slept, so I guess something happened in my sleep for it to not work now. Can someone help determine if this is an issue with the charger or something else?

The steps found here may help your Mac turn on again: If your Mac doesn't turn on. You may only need to:
"Press and hold the power button
Press and hold the power button on your Mac for about 10 seconds. (Every Mac has a power button. On laptop computers that have Touch ID, press and hold Touch ID.)
Then press and release the power button normally."
If the Mac still won't turn on after following all steps: contact Apple Support.
