I have Apple AirPods gen 3. My phone says the model number is A2698 which when I look it up is the Pro model. The phone shows the correct serial number but wrong model number.

A Glitch in Apple's Device Database?

I would contact Apple Support, asking them if there is a glitch in their user database. You should not be getting this message, if they have already been repaired. If these are used, then that may be why this is occurring.

Why Being Use would Matter:

Because it may be a returned item that was never damaged out by Apple's Store Staff. Happened to me with my Mac: The device was never disassociated from the priors owner, and the Serial Number got all tangled up in Apple's device database.
