I have apparently sent a Keynote file from my MacBook Air (Apple M2) to my iPad Mini 4 (software version 15.7.8) but I have no idea where it goes to when it gets to the iPad. I can’t find it. Where to look? It isn’t in Files or downloads.

Checking your Files and downloads were definitely logical places to look.
You can also use your iPad's search, to search for the document's name, or content within it: Use iPad to search
If you need more help, adding additional details like how the file was sent can increase the chances that members of the community will be able to respond with helpful and specific guidance.
