My new iPhone 12 Pro apparently is "not compatible" with the face id, and I would have to use a pin to unlock the device. Even though it should be able to have it. I don't know if it is broken or set up yet, but is there anything I can do to get the face id to work again?

If the phone is “new”, then it’s under warranty. Take it back to where you got it.
