iMovie for Big Sur

I don't have iMovie on my Mac (Big Sur 11.7.4), never had it, don't know why. Anyway, I want to add iMovie. I've been told by a nice Apple tech, to first, change back my OS to Mojave (re-install that) and iMovie will be there. Then reinstall Big Sur if I want to (I may have to because some of my applications may not work in Mojave). It all seems very long! Why can't I just install a compatible version of iMovie? The new version requires an OS that won't work on my Mac.

Open the App Store application and click on your name at the bottom left corner.

This should take you to what is known as your Purchased page which should list your Apple applications that are associated with the Apple ID that you use to sign into the App Store.

Hopefully you will see iMovie listed on this Purchased page with a download symbol.

All being well you will be offered to download a version of iMovie that is compatible with your Big Sur.

As far as I am aware iTunes is not compatible with Big Sur.

Hi Saywack,

We may just have what you are looking for, so let's see how we can help.

If you are looking for older versions of software that's no longer found in the App Store, Apple does have a site that carries previous versions of software. Just go to Apple - Support - Downloads and type iMovie and search and it will display older versions that can be downloaded.

Should you have any questions, just reach back out to us.

Take care!
